KD Swimming

Today was KD's Swimming Observation Day. Thank you, Xavier's father, for capturing these shots. It looks like everyone had a great time!

Today KD kids read a book that explained how our actions affect other people and that each of us carry an invisible bucket. This bucket carries how we feel about ourselves and our happiness. We can fill someone's bucket with acts of kindness or we can dip into other's buckets when we are mean or make a poor choice. We brainstormed a list of things we could do here at school to fill each other's buckets. We will work together tomorrow to start filling a class bucket by the end of the year.

Today we read Cat Tale by Michael Hall. We are fortunate enough to now have a signed copy in our class library. This story introduced the concept of homonyms in an age appropriate and entertaining way. Can you spot these homonyms?

KD students worked together to measure to the nearest foot the length of eight different sharks. Sharks were as long as 27 feet and as short as 3. Who knew there were so much diversity in the lengths of sharks?!

Manatees!

After reading about mantes, Kd students created their own snuggly versions of the sea cows. Some included interesting details such as bristly muzzles, nostrils placed on the top, and scars along the backsides. It's AMAZING to see what great marine biologists we have become in these recent projects.
